When is the best time of the year to move?

If you are moving with a tight budget, the winter season is the best! Most moving companies tend to charge less during winter as it’s off-season.

What do full-service moving companies provide?

You can expect the below services from full-service moving companies:

  • Supplying all packing materials and supplies
  • Packing and unpacking your belongings
  • Truck loading and unloading
  • Transporting your belongings
  • Disposal of packing materials

What is a local move?

Any move under 50 miles (within a city or county) is called a local move. It is the most common type of move in the moving industry. Usually, moving companies charge their hourly rate for local moves.

How much does a move cost?

The cost of the move depends on a lot of factors like:

  • Time of Move: The month and the day of the move are crucial factors determining the moving cost.
  • Size of Move: Whether you are moving 1BHK, 2BHK, 3BHK, 4BHK, Office, or Studio.
  • Type of Move: Pricing varies with the type of move – local, long-distance, interstate, or international.
  • Accessibility: Elevator, Walk-up, or Ground Floor (on current and new location)

What if I am not ready to move?

Make sure you are available on every service day. Any delay preventing the moving crew from packing or loading goods may incur additional charges. For any unforeseen delays, get in touch with our office immediately. We’ll see how we can accommodate you.

What items do you not move?

Though we are a full-service moving company, there may be a few items we don’t move which are prohibited by law, such as weapons, flammable liquids, fireworks, etc. You can check the list of items prohibited by law during the move in this Non-Allowable Items List. Is moving insurance necessary?

Our moving team takes utmost care to prevent loss or damage to your goods during the move. To avoid unforeseen conditions, buy moving insurance that offers full value protection.

Are there any unexpected costs I should be aware of?

No! Move on Moving has ZERO hidden fees! We may charge you additional fees for keeping trucks overnight or off-hours fees. We shall inform you about these charges before your move.

Should I tip my movers?

Usually, moving companies do not include a gratuity in their pricing. So, if your movers do a satisfactory job, you can tip them as a good gesture! Consider tipping them $4-$5/hour per mover.

Do I need an estimate?

Usually, the sales guy of the moving companies will give you a rough idea of the overall moving cost. Still, make sure to ask for a written estimate. It will help you understand the moving costs ahead of time and shall also save you from moving day surprises.

Why should I hire a professional mover?

Moving on your own can be stressful and time-consuming. Hiring a professional mover will save you time and energy. It will also help in getting an easy and safe move.

What if I cannot be there for my move?

We strongly recommend you be present on the move or delivery day to avoid any issues or miscommunication. If unavailable, appoint someone who can sign the paperwork on your behalf. This person shall be responsible for decisions on move day or delivery day.

What is a Bill of Lading?

A bill of lading is a document issued by a carrier to acknowledge receipt of cargo for shipment. Although the term historically related only to carriage by sea, a bill of lading may today be used for any type of carriage of goods.

Do you provide moving boxes and packing supplies?

We do provide our customers with different kinds of sturdy and professional-grade moving boxes. These boxes come in various sizes and functions. For example, we have one for holding glassware, chinaware, and plates. On the other hand, you can also try looking for used boxes on Craigslist and Freecycle.

For those who don’t have time to do their packing, we also offer professional packing services for an affordable price. We can pack any items, including hard-to-move and hard-to-pack items like TVs, entertainment systems, etc.

What happens if something gets damaged during the move?

Generally, the moving company is legally liable for loss or damage during transportation. It is because the goods were in their possession during the move.

Once aware of the damage or loss, just let the company know about it. They will walk you through how to file a claim to repair or replace the damaged belongings.

Should I buy moving insurance?

If you want your belongings to be covered in case of loss or damage during transit, you need moving insurance. In a worst-case situation, you can protect yourself financially by paying a small fraction of your item’s total value. Free basic coverage is not enough for most people.
